In mid-2014, RG Construction offered a price to furnish and install the Radiant Ceiling Systems for the new Kellogg Global Hub. The concept of using a radiant ceiling system with the scale and complexity of the Kellogg Project is very rare. The variation in radiant ceiling types and formats in one building had never been attempted on campus nor in the Chicago market. RG was able to partner with a single manufacturer that could provide options for ALL of the systems. RG was the only contractor to find a single source manufacturer for the project. Additionally, RG was able to negotiate an agreeable installation sequence with the multiple trade unions required for installation. RG also developed a design for the 2nd Floor Auditorium (see below) that was intended to be a wood veneer ceiling but was eventually installed as a chilled metal ceiling with a faux wood finish. While the initial delivery of this project was hard bid, once on board it quickly moved to a collaborative design assist project, as there were multiple challenges to maintain the design aesthetic, while meeting the heating and cooling performance criteria.
